This is also the second official single off of the album, so you know Mac and his team really feel the same way about the song. On GO:OD AM, Miller loses none of the charisma or likability of his previous work, yet gains an abundance of vision and focus. His lyrics were still mostly vulgar, but the backing beats hinted at a more old school, boom bap type of sound. Mac Miller using the Migos flow on “When In Rome” is one of the highlights on the album. That ScHoolboy Q bit at the end of the song is hilarious as well. The song has a very dope beat and with Mac spitting “So this the music that make white people mad. With what sounds like Damier Genesis giving Mac some props at the beginning of the song, the only thing Mac Miller could do was turn up on the song. It would be a good look if the song ended making its way onto radio. It's probably not surprising that Mac Miller's major label debut, GO:OD AM, is a little less weird than his last two outings, but in the case of Mac Miller, that's not an entirely bad thing.
It is more upbeat that your usual Miguel feature. The song sounded like it was made organically and the hook featuring both artists sounds really dope. I was not too sure what to expect from the Miguel feature on the album even though I am a fan of his music. He speaks about many topics on “Brand Name” including not wanting to join the 27 club (Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse, Jimi Hendrix, etc.), still being compared to Eminem, not being able to visit Pittsburgh as much as he’d like and more.

So it has been quite a while for Mac Miller fans, but that all changes this Friday (9/18). Mac Miller hasn’t released a project since dropping Faces back in May last year, and his last studio album being released almost a year before that back in 2013.
